Police respond to gun shot in Stevens Point

STEVENS POINT – On Dec. 1 at 1:59 a.m, the Portage County Communication Center received a 911 call regarding a male subject that had brandished a handgun in the 1300 block of Second St. and fired the handgun. Officers arrived and the suspect was taken into custody without incident at 2:03 a.m. A loaded handgun was found on the suspect.
Information gathered from witnesses indicated that the suspect had entered several vehicles and stolen multiple items prior to firing the handgun. It was determined that the suspect had fired the handgun two times. No persons were injured during this incident.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital where, after obtaining a search warrant, blood was drawn. The suspect was then transported to the Portage County Jail on the following
Charges: endangering safety by use of a dangerous weapon (2 counts), felon in possession of a firearm, carrying a concealed weapon. theft of a firearm.
The suspect is identified as a 32 year old male Stevens Point resident, Josiah D. Harvath.
