UWSP baseball unveils 2022 schedule

STEVENS POINT – UW-Stevens Point head baseball coach Nat Richter has unveiled his team’s slate for the 2022 season as the Pointers look to defend their regular season title in 2021. The Pointers will play 18 home games at Zimmermann Field as nine doubleheaders beginning in April.
UWSP will open the season with 13 straight games away from home. The season starts on March 6 as the Pointers face Illinois Tech and Carroll in Bloomington, IL. UWSP will then travel to Florida for the annual Spring Break trip. This year, UWSP will play seven games in the Sunshine State against yet to be determined opponents.
The Pointers return to Wisconsin and immediately face off with UW-Whitewater in conference action on March 26 and 27. The four games in Whitewater will feature last season’s regular season and tournament champions.
The 2022 home opener will see Finlandia in town for a pair of doubleheaders on April 2 and 3. Following a midweek single game at Concordia, UWSP returns home for six games. UW-La Crosse is here for four games on April 9 and 10 followed by a midweek twin bill versus St. Norbert on April 13.
The Pointers travel to UW-Stout for a weekend series on April 15 and 16 ahead of the longest home stand of the year. UW-Eau Claire and UW-Platteville are in town for back-to-back weekend series April 23-24 and April 30-May 1, respectively, to wrap up the home slate.
UWSP will conclude the regular season with a four-game series at UW-Oshkosh on May 6 and 7. Following the regular season, the WIAC Tournament will be played from May 12 through May 14.
The Pointers went 32-11 in 2021 with a claim to the regular season title, the 10th in program history. Aaron Simmons (Franklin) and Sidney Ferry (Paw Paw, MI) in 2022 after All-America nods from ABCA and D3Baseball, respectively, in 2021. Simmons is UWSP’s all-time triples leader with 14 career three-baggers. Ferry recorded nine saves in 2021, the second-most in a single season for the Pointers.
