Neuberger’s early goal snuffed by Augsburg second-period rally

STEVENS POINT – Senior Nicole Neuberger (Minnetrista, MN) scored 29 seconds in, but the UW-Stevens Point women’s hockey team (4-7-0) fell by a 6-2 final to visiting Augsburg (4-5-1).
Neuberger netted her third goal in as many games and the Pointers held the 1-0 lead into her first intermission.
The Auggies flipped the script in the second period. Just 1:12 in, AU tied the game at 1-1. The visitors posted a power-play tally at 8:28 to take the lead and Augsburg tacked on a third goal at 9:46 of the second.
In the third period, the Auggies put up a shorthanded goal and a power-play goal at 4:01 and 6:42 respectively for a 5-1 lead.

(Madison) picked up a point for the second-straight game with an assist on the play.
Augsburg added another power-play goal at 10:45 to complete the scoring.
Olivia Schultz (Maplewood, MN) made 36 saves in net for the Pointers. AU goaltender Chloe Stockinger had 29 saves.
The Pointers will next play on Dec. 31 at 7:00 p.m. at Lawrence in the first of a home-and-home against the Vikings.
