STEVENS POINT – Women’s clothing store Bria Bella & Co. is hosting their fifth annual Holiday Give Back.
The Give Back’s objective is to collect donations to provide the struggling families of Stevens Point with aid during the holiday season.
With the holiday season approaching, it becomes more difficult for families in need to obtain necessities such as toiletries and warming materials. To help those families in need, people from the community come together and give donations. In Stevens Point, WI the women’s clothing store Bria Bella & Co. is hosting the annual Holiday Give Back in efforts to help families in need throughout Stevens Point.
Owner of Bria Bella & Co. Tara Manzke explained that the Holiday Give Back program is designed to “help local families in need that have been identified by the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization.”
The Holiday Give Back program helps those in need by providing them with household essentials, hygiene products, warm clothing, and a gift. Through the Holiday Give Back program, Manzke aims to provide those in need with “toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, shampoo, conditioner, and toothbrushes for each person in the family.”
Additionally each family member “receives socks, hats, and gloves because we live in Wisconsin, and they need those things to stay warm. We do provide a gift for each person in the family as well. And when they get the donation everything is a surprise.”
All of the goods given to families in need from the Holiday Give Back program are provided by donations of goods or funded by monetary donations.
Manzke expressed that people wanting to contribute can, “sponsor a family (shop for a specific family’s needs), or they can just drop off donations of various items that are requested, or they can donate cash, and then we will do the shopping. People can also purchase bath salt ornaments which are available at the store, and when people buy one, 100% of the proceeds go toward this effort.”
The Holiday Give Back program was started in 2017 in the same year that Manzke opened Bria Bella & Co.. From day one of owning Bria Bella & Co., Manzke knew that she wanted to help others during [the holiday season] and so she had reached out to Big Brothers Big Sisters and partnered with them to provide for families who are in need.
The families who receive the donations are identified by a team from the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. According to Manzke the families who receive donations “do not apply for it or anything like that. From the beginning, the program was always meant to be a huge surprise. When the gift basket shows up on their doorstep, they have no idea they are getting it.”
If people do choose to sponsor a family or provide either a donation of an item or money, they would be helping the families who are in need within the community. Manzke appreciates that “we have a generous community who really wants to help.” Additionally, Manzke feels that the facilitation of the Holiday Give Back program is a “collective effort between the community members, businesses, myself, my store, and my staff. It has been amazing watching the program grow from the start into what it is now.” Manzke looks forward to continuing working collaboratively with the Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization along with the community in order to provide for the struggling families of Stevens Point.
