STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Area Senior High School (SPASH) trap shooting club hosted a breakfast fundraiser on March 12 at the Moose Lodge in Stevens Point.
The program helps students cover the costs of the program, with students paying $250 for entry to the club, and the program covering roughly $700 per athlete after that.
Community members and proud parents attended the event, buying meals and raffle tickets to help support the club.
Club Coach John Irwin has been with the group for 13-years. His favorite part of the program is seeing the kids learn life skills.
“I like watching the kids progress, watching them learn how to safely handle a firearm, and watching them learn a life skill,” Irwin said.
A fourth year member, Jillian Plummer, said her favorite part of the club was being a part of the sport of trap shooting in general.
