MARSHFIELD – Krista Hoglund, Chief Executive Officer at Security Health Plan of Wisconsin, Inc., recently completed a year-long leadership development fellowship through the Carol Emmott Foundation.

The Carol Emmott Fellowship was established in 2016 to help address the underrepresentation of women in leadership roles in health care. Each year, this 14-month program brings together women from across the nation, working to increase both their leadership capacity and impact in their communities. During the program participants are paired with a mentor and complete an impact project in their health communities.

“Our Health System has been intimately involved with the Carol Emmott Fellowship because we believe strongly in investing in women leaders and providing women opportunities to grow as leaders,” said Dr. Susan Turney, Marshfield Clinic Health System CEO. “I am so proud of Krista for embracing this experience. I know she will use what she has learned to impact our organization and fellow women leaders in healthcare and beyond.”

Hoglund appreciated connections she made with the group of 21 women who completed the fellowship along with her. They worked collaboratively on projects and provided a supportive community for each other to be challenged and grow.

“It’s been an honor to be part of the Carol Emmott class of 2021. I’ve formed long-lasting relationships with remarkable women as I developed my own leadership and listening skills and built strategies to overcome obstacles. I am looking at how we work at Security Health Plan and

Marshfield Clinic Health System with a new lens to improve how we serve our communities,” said Hoglund.

Hoglund is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a bachelor’s degree in applied mathematics. She has been with Security Health Plan since 2008, serving in multiple roles in the actuarial and business intelligence departments, was named Chief Actuary and Financial Officer in 2019 and most recently named as Chief Executive Officer in 2021.
