STEVENS POINT – Stevens Point PEO Chapter CB recently presented the Ruth Steffen Memorial Scholarship to an area woman pursuing undergraduate studies as a non-traditional student. The $500 award will help offset out-of-pocket education expenses. Jill Weyers accepted this award on May 12 meeting of the Stevens Point PEO Chapter CB.

Weyers is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education at UW-Stevens Point. In 2013, Weyers received her Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education at Midstate Technical College and has worked in the field for the past eight years. Jill will graduate in December, 2022. 2022 marks the second year PEO Chapter CB has awarded an educational scholarship to a Portage County student. This scholarship program is named in honor of. Ruth Steffen who had been a long time member of PEO. The Ruth Steffen Memorial Scholarship is available annually to Portage County women pursuing undergraduate studies as a non-traditional student at UW-Stevens Point or Midstate Technical College.
