Speed Enforcement Task Force runs through August

PORTAGE COUNTY – The Portage County Sheriff’s Office, Stevens Point Police Department, and Plover Police Department will be participating in a multijurisdictional traffic safety task force geared toward decreasing crashes and gaining voluntary compliance with traffic laws. The enforcement period will be June through August.
In an effort to increase highway safety, deputies and officers from all three agencies will be increasing traffic contacts during the summer months. Primary enforcement will focus on Speed Violations, Aggressive Driving, Unrestrained Occupants, Traffic Control Violations and OWI laws.
The objective of the task force is to decrease the number of targeted violations and related traffic crashes, with a goal to increase voluntary compliance with traffic laws thereby decreasing fatalities and serious injuries on Portage County roadways.
