PORTAGE COUNTY – The League of Women Voters of the Stevens Point Area (LWVSPA) is hosting a candidate forum for the Democratic primary sheriff candidates on July 20 at 6 p.m.

The event will be held at the Pinery Room of the Portage County Public Library, 1001 Main St., Stevens Point.

Both candidates, Florian Chojnachi, Jr., and Mike Lukas, have agreed to participate.

“The format of the forum will allow both candidates to make opening statements, answer a series of questions from both the LWVSPA and the public attending the event, and make closing comments,” a LWVSPA stated.

The league is a political, but non-partisan organization; and the forum will be conducted in that manner.

All Portage County residents are invited to attend.

The LWVSPA has requested assistance from John Quirk to record and post the forum on the City of Stevens Point’s YouTube channel.

The partisan primary will be held on Aug. 9. One candidate, Scott Kenneth Noble, is running on the Republican ballot.
