Bridge deck removal to result in closure of I-39 in Portage County
Full closures with signed detours can be expected overnight

PORTAGE COUNTY – During the next two weeks, motorists will encounter overnight full closures of I-39 at the US 10/WIS 66 interchange in Portage County as crews remove the southern portion of the bridge deck.
North- and southbound I-39 are scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. on Sept. 7 to 5 a.m. on Sept. 8 and again from 9 p.m. on Sept. 8 to 5 a.m. on Sept 9.
Northbound I-39 is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. on Sept. 9 to 7 a.m. on Sept. 10.
Northbound I-39 is scheduled to be closed from 9 p.m. on Sept. 12 to 5 a.m. on Sept. 13.
The signed detour route for northbound I-39 will be County HH to County R to West US 10, and the signed detour route for southbound I-39 will be Business 51 to East WIS 66.
“The deck removal is part of an ongoing bridge rehabilitation project. It is scheduled for overnight hours to minimize the disruption to travelers, and the full closure of I-39 is necessary to minimize the risk to protect motorists,” a DOT release stated.
