PORTAGE COUNTY – Abi Solin has joined the staff of the United Way of Portage County as the early learning coordinator.
In her new role, Solin will coordinate the “Learn for Life” literacy program and will support the “Born Learning Collective Impact Initiative,” which focuses on closing the Academic Achievement Gap and preparing children for kindergarten in Portage County.
Abi attended the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she earned a master of arts degree in communication disorders, and the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point where she earned a bachelor of science degree in communication sciences and disorders.
Before joining United Way, Solin worked as a program assistant with the special needs unit, specifically the “Birth to 3” program, housed in Portage County Health and Human Services. Earlier in her career, she worked as a speech and language pathologist in the state of Oregon.
She and her husband, Jeremy, have lived in Portage County for almost 20 years and have three children. “Community service has always been an integral component to my career and personal life,” Solin said. “I am thrilled to work with United Way and am grateful for the opportunity to help support the work that is being done with children and families throughout Portage County.”
