STEVENS POINT – The city of Stevens Point will host a public meeting regarding Business 51 on Oct. 6.
“We’re going to have representatives from AECOM, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation and City staff all available,” Stevens Point Mayor Mike Wiza said. “We’ll have a short presentation of where we are in the design after talking with many of the business owners and residents along that corridor, and then we’ll have some time for questions and answers about where we can and cannot go from here.”
“The council authorized the additional cost of this meeting after the binding referendum passed by 31 votes in August. The City is now required to go to a public vote, prior to construction, for any transportation expense of greater than $1 million. This includes regular, annual road projects throughout the City and well as any special needs for development, Public Transportation, Rail or Air,” a city release stated.
The meeting will be held Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the SPASH auditorium at 1201 Northpoint Drive, Stevens Point.
