Wine is better on the farm

PORTAGE COUNTY – A Portage County Leadership group is mixing wine and the farm, in an effort to create a fun corn maze experience while raising money for breast cancer awareness.
“The event is being put on and run by a group of my classmates in Leadership Portage County, one of my classmates, Colin, has had this idea of a wine walk through a corn maze for a while and now was the perfect chance for us to help him make it happen while also turning his idea into a fundraiser so that we can help others,” said McKenna Skye, one of the organizers
“Our Leadership Portage County class has about 20 of us, but only about 10 of us are pursuing this event while the other 10 are putting together their own community event. We are all from different companies that came together to expand our leadership abilities and make new connections.”
The inaugural presentation of “Wine on the Farm” will be held Oct. 15 at Feltz Dairy Farm.
“Feltz Dairy Farm will have a separate corn maze for the wine walk, those who purchase tickets ahead of time on Feltz Dairy Facebook Page will be able to participate between 1-4 p.m. As each partaker walks the corn maze they will come across five tables, each set up with different wine, cheese, and crackers.”
All proceeds from the event will go to the Stevens Point Cancer Care Fund.
“We chose to raise funds for them because one of our group members lost her mom to breast cancer and now is close to losing another family member to breast cancer, so we wanted to help support Breast Cancer Awareness.
“We worked with the Marshfield Clinic and that’s how we got inspired to raise funds for the Stevens Point Cancer Care Fund.”
The Feltz Dairy Farm is located at 5796 Porter Dr., Stevens Point.
