One dead in Portage County crash

PORTAGE COUNTY – One man has died in a Portage County crash.
On Nov. 18, shortly after 7 a.m., the Portage County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a one-vehicle crash on USH 10 west of County Highway B in the village of Amherst Junction.
“Upon arrival of responding emergency units one male passenger was observed to be deceased. The driver and remaining two passengers were evaluated by medical personnel and released at the scene,” a Portage County Sheriff’s release stated.
“Initial investigation shows the vehicle was traveling west on USH 10 when it entered the north ditch and rolled coming to rest on its tires. Speed and road conditions are believed to have been a factor in the crash.
“The sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by the Amherst Fire Department, Amherst EMS, Stevens Point Fire Department and Portage County Medical Examiner.”
The identity of the driver has not been released. No other information is available at this time.
