The first edition of the Stevens Point Gazette senior spotlight this winter starts at SPASH. Lauren Strasman enters her senior season after rehabbing a knee injury that kept her out last year. Here is a little more about the SPASH senior.

What is a nickname that everyone calls you?

“I have quite a few nicknames, but I would say I get called ‘Stras’ or ‘Strasdog’ the most.”

What is one thing you like about high school athletics?

“The one thing I love about high school athletics is the teammates that come with it. I have made some of my favorite memories with these girls, so I know it’s really going be a tough goodbye when the time comes.”

Where is one place you’d visit, even if you’ve seen it a hundred times?

“Definitely Paris. It’s such a beautiful place, and I’ve always dreamed of traveling there since I was young, so that’s on the top of my list of where to go.”

What is your favorite TV show to watch?

“The Office 100%. It never fails to make me laugh. But when it comes to movies, anything with Will Ferrell.”

Who is your famous role model?

“Emma Chamberlain. I love her and have been a huge fan of hers since her early years on social media. She’s just relatable in so many aspects.”

What was the hardest part of the comeback from your knee injury?

“The mental aspect of it all. When I was told I would return for senior year stronger and better than I used to be, I never believed anyone. But I used that statement as motivation to make it a reality. Ever since I got cleared to get back into the gym, I didn’t miss a day because I wanted to prove it not only for others but for myself as well.”

Do you have a career path in mind?

“I’m still undecided about where I want to go, but I’m super interested in forensic science and criminal psychology. And hopefully, a chance to play basketball in college as well.”

What is one goal that you have for the next five years?

“That’s a tough question, but as I said previously, I’ve always wanted to travel. Hopefully, by then, I am traveling or have visited some of my dream destinations.”
