STEVENS POINT — The 2022 Sentry Classic held at UWSP’s Quandt Fieldhouse gave teams and players to play on a bigger stage. For SPASH’s Emma Jossie, it will forever be the time she made history at SPASH. The senior forward is only the fifth girls’ basketball player at SPASH to join the 1,000-point club.

Jossie sat at 976 career points going into the annual holiday tournament. A 23-point performance on Dec. 28 propelled that total to 999 points. The next day (Dec. 29), she joined a short list of players to hit the milestone in SPASH girls’ basketball history. Jossie surpassed 1,000 points on her first basket of the night against Fond du Lac, joining Leah Earnest, Maggie Negaard, Janel McCarville, and Madisyn Rogan as the only SPASH girls players to do it.
She currently sits at 1,010 points in her career. She is averaging 18 points per game this season in 11 games. If you have other local sports story ideas, contact Jacob Heid at [email protected]. You can also follow him on Twitter at JacobHeid_15 for local sports news and events.
