STEVENS POINT – The Stevens Point Area Senior High girls’ golf program will be under new direction starting in 2023-24, the school announced on Jan. 30.
Jenessa Reid, an English teacher at SPASH, will take control of the program that is fresh off a state tournament appearance.
She replaces Mark Lesinski at the helm.

Coach Reid was previously the head girls’ coach and assistant boys’ Coach at Marshfield High School.
Reid brings a vast background in golf, having competed in high school for the SPASH Boys Golf Team and at the college level for the Women’s Golf Team at Luther College.
“I am excited to coach golf for SPASH, as I have been a part of golf in the community as a player and instructor for my whole life,” Reid told the Gazette. “Working to continue the program at the school where my own golf career began has always been a goal of mine.”
Reid brings plenty of experience to the table on the links.
She hopes to bring in interested players, even if they have never played the game.
The game highlights more than just the score on the card.
“As a coach, I hope to increase participation in the program and encourage any girl who is interested to come out for the team, regardless of whether or not they have played in the past,” she explained. “Golf is a lifelong sport that promotes a healthy balance of socialization and mental and physical challenge, and I’m thrilled to share my love for it with the team as they learn, practice and compete.”
“We are fortunate to have Jenessa ready and willing to lead this program. She has a lot of experience as both a competitive golfer and a coach. In addition, she brings a passion for the sport and a desire to build the Stevens Point golf program into a dominant one,” Athletic Director David Hauser said in the release.
The girls hit the links and compete in the fall season, while the boys’ season occurs in spring.
