STEVENS POINT– Stevens Point Area Senior High has named two new coaches to their athletic programs.
Jacob Geiger has been hired as the new head coach for girls’ soccer
Geiger previously coached with MC United in Wausau.
He is a 2016 graduate of Medford High School, where he participated in boys’ soccer.
After high school, he took his soccer skills to Viterbo and played on the men’s team for two years.

“I am thrilled to be a part of the SPASH program. It is an organization with a rich tradition of success in both athletics and academics. I look forward to the coming season and what we can build going forward,” Geiger said.
“I am very excited to welcome Jacob to the Stevens Point Area School District and the SPASH athletic program. I know he will be a great role model for our student-athletes not only in the girls’ soccer program but in the schools as well,” SPASH Athletic Director David Hauser stated.
Mackenzie (Rechner) Kyle has also been hired as the new head coach for the girls’ volleyball program.
Kyle is a 2015 graduate of SPASH high school and participated in volleyball, basketball and softball during her high school career.

Kyle

After graduating from SPASH, Kyle attended the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse. “Coach Kyle brings a vast background in volleyball having competed in high school for the SPASH volleyball team and at the collegiate level for the women’s team at UW-Lacrosse,” a SPASH release stated.
Kyle graduated from UW-La Crosse in 2019 with an undergraduate degree in physical education and a minor in adapted physical education.
She has worked for the Stevens Point School District since August 2022, teaching physical education at Plover-Whiting Elementary school.
Prior to this year, Kyle was an assistant girls’ volleyball coach at West Salem High School.
Coach Kyle believes that “Hard work and consistency can yield great successes on and off the court.”

“I am very excited to welcome Mackenzie back to the Stevens Point Area School District and the SPASH Athletic program. She brings an incredible amount of energy and passion to our volleyball program and the overall athletic program. Mackenzie is a highly motivated, passionate coach and will expect the same from her teams,” Hauser added.
