Deacan Koback is one of 10 seniors on the SPASH baseball team.
With plans to continue his baseball career in college, Koback is looking to finish his senior year on a high note.
As of Apr. 28, he is hitting .417 during Wisconsin Valley Conference play and has five RBIs.
Here is more about the Panther senior:
When did you begin playing baseball?
“I started playing baseball in a T-ball league at the YMCA when I was four years old.”
What position do you play?
“I have been primarily a catcher since I was 13 years old. Before then, I played a lot of shortstop, third base and pitcher.”
Did you play any other sports in high school or throughout your life?
Since I can remember, baseball and football have been my main two sports. I played soccer, hockey and basketball for a handful of years when I was younger, but I just didn’t seem to like them. My sophomore year, I quit football to focus on baseball as that was during COVID-19, and the football season was moved to the spring. I’ve also been bowling competitively since eighth grade.
Do you have any siblings or pets?
“I live with my mom, dad, younger brother Dayden and our two dogs, Gunner and Luna. My two older brothers, Devin and Dalton, have moved out. Dalton is married to my sister-in-law Anna, and they have started a family of their own.”
Who has been the biggest inspiration or role model in your life?
“My biggest role model would most definitely have to be my dad. I wouldn’t be the person I am today without him. I’m always trying to find ways to make him more and more proud of having me for a son. Since I can remember, I’ve always looked up to him.
If you could pick one MLB player to join the SPASH lineup for a game, who would it be?
If I had to pick any MLB player to play for us in a game, I couldn’t pick anyone else but Aaron Judge. I’ve been a Yankee fan my entire life. His ability to hit home runs 450 feet and bat .300 at the same time is crazy. On top of that, his pure athleticism in the outfield is mind-blowing for someone his size.”
What are your plans for college?
“I plan on attending Bryant and Stratton College in Milwaukee and studying criminal justice. While attending there, I’m going to play baseball and bowl.”
What is your dream job?
“Honestly, I have no idea what my dream job would be. As a little kid, I can remember wanting to be an MLB star. Outside of sports, I guess I’ve never thought about a dream job.”
What type of music do you listen to? Who is your favorite artist?
“I listen to a variety of music. Rap, country and hip-hop. I have been listening to a lot of Lil Tjay and Pop Smoke because I like having them as a walk-up song during my summer season.”
