Sydney Gavin is one of only three seniors on a young Pacelli softball team in 2023. She is a four-year player for Head Coach Ann Molski.
She plans on finishing up her high school career and starting her college career at a local university.
Here is a little more about the Pacelli senior:
What is a nickname that your teammates or family call you?
“A nickname I gained from softball is Squidney. One person said it, and it just started rolling. Everybody started saying it and I even have my nickname on my water bottle.”
How long have you played softball?
“11 years. I started during t-ball and fell in love and never stopped.”
What is your favorite thing about the Stevens Point area?
“The sculpture park. My sister and I walk through the sculpture park quite frequently, and sometimes we even take the kids we babysit.”
What is your go-to pregame snack or meal?
“Watermelon. One of my closest softball friends always brought watermelon with them to the ballpark, and now it’s become a staple for me.”
What is your plan after high school?
“I’m attending UW-Stevens Point with a major in psychology. I’ve always been interested in the human brain and psychology so it was a no-brainer.”
A place that is at the top of your bucket list to visit?
“Anywhere in the UK. There’s no particular reason why. I’ve just always found the UK beautiful, and it’s been at the top of my bucket list to visit for a while.”
Can you explain one memory you’ll miss the most after high school?
“Seeing my friends in the hallway every day. Being able to see them in between my classes made me happy and always made my day.”
