Kylie Groshek, a SPASH soccer senior captain, is having one of her favorite soccer seasons as her high school career winds down.
She plans on continuing her education in Wisconsin while trying to travel when time allows.
Here is a little more about the Groshek:
What is a nickname your family or friends call you?
“I have been called both ‘Ky’ and ‘Groshek’ throughout my life by friends and family.”
What is your favorite high school soccer moment?
My favorite high school soccer moment is all of the laughs this year. I do not think I have ever had a coach that makes me smile and laugh so much. If you were to ever ask Coach Jake what our mascot is, he would not say ‘a panther’ as you would assume. He would say ‘dogs.’ But not spelled dogs. The correct spelling is dawgs. I also could not have asked for better teammates. We all work, laugh, learn and fail together, and that is all I could ask for in a team.”
How long have you played soccer?
“I played at the YMCA when I was eight, and I played at PCYS (Portage County Youth Soccer) when I was 10.”
Away from sports, what is your favorite thing to do?
“My favorite thing to do is read. I love all kinds of books and the different stories they have to tell. Most books take me away from reality, and that comes in handy during stressful and anxious times.”
Where is your favorite vacation destination?
“I absolutely love Nashville, Tenn. To start off, it is ‘Music City,’ and it is truly a beautiful place to be. I love all types of music but especially country, and there are various country music stars that live in Nashville. It would be very exciting to meet them while visiting. The big city is an amazing experience. It is absolutely gorgeous at night.”
What are your plans after high school?
“I will be continuing my education at Concordia University of Wisconsin-Mequon and will be majoring in accounting. I am super excited to start this new chapter in my life and see where college will take me.”
What is one TV show that you’ve binged?“Stranger Things is hands down the best show I have ever binged. My sister and I watched three seasons in four days over Thanksgiving break in 2019.”
Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope to have a bachelor’s degree in accounting and possibly work on a master’s in accounting as well. I desire an occupation I truly enjoy and hope to be working hard. I also hope that my future self will be traveling whenever possible.”
