With the WIAA spring baseball season wrapping up with the state tournament in Grand Chute on Jun. 15, athletes move right into the summer Wisconsin American Legion season.

The senior Plover Black Sox and Stevens Point Sixers travel to tournaments over the weekend of Jun. 16-18 for the first action of the year.

Plover will be in Escanaba, Mich., for a three-day tournament starting this afternoon, Thursday, Jun. 16.

Stevens Point has less travel time, playing three scheduled games on Jun. 16-17 in Wisconsin Rapids at the Rangers Invitational. A game is scheduled for Sunday, Jun. 18, which is still TBD.

All games for this tournament are played at the Rapids Area Sports Complex.

Plover’s first game is this afternoon vs. Norway, Mich., at 2 p.m. CST.

The Black Sox take the field again later tonight vs. Escanaba at 6 p.m. CST.

Two more games are scheduled in Gladstone, Mich., on Saturday, Jun. 17, starting at 12:30 p.m. CST  vs. De Pere.

Plover will then face Gladstone at 5:15 p.m. CST to wrap up the day.

The schedule of games on Sunday, Jun. 18, is still TBD.

The Sixers travel to Rapids tonight to take on Antigo at 5 p.m. before playing another two games on Saturday, Jun. 17.

Stevens Point plays a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. vs. Onalaska and Eau Claire.

After the tournaments, the teams start Wisconsin Valley Conference Legion play on Monday, Jun. 19, and Tuesday, Jun. 20.
