LIT returns to Stevens Point Sept. 16


Event to showcase Sculpture Park at night

STEVENS POINT — The public is invited to attend LIT, a celebration planned for Sept. 16, starting at 8 p.m. at the Stevens Point Sculpture Park, located at 901 North Second Street in Stevens Point. The event will welcome the public to see the park in a new light, with an evening event featuring illuminated sculptures, dance performances, music, and film.
LIT is free and open to the public. Attendees will have a chance to see the Sculpture Park at night, with LIT featuring three newly-installed illuminated sculptures, in addition to other select works. Watch live dance performances, listen to music with DJ Frank Slowinski (Imaginary Friend), and debut film projects. A map highlighting the illuminated sculptures, dance locations, film debut, music, tent and parking areas will be available on the Stevens Point Sculpture Park Facebook page before the event.
Throughout the park, several pieces will be illuminated, including three new sculptures: Lone Wolf, by Thomas Voorheis; Communication Tangles, by Eric Troffkin; and Furnished Framework, by Brighton McCormick. Sculpture lighting design by Artistic Director Matthew Kirsch and projection mapping design by River Akemann. Point Dance Ensemble will have dance performances throughout the park, work by filmmakers River Akemann and Sean Welch, author Louie Bartnik, and tunes by DJ Imaginary Friend.
The Stevens Point Sculpture Park is all volunteer run and is only possible with the help of private donors including the Koziol Family Fund and grants through the Community Foundation of Central Wisconsin. The Stevens Point Sculpture Park is a twenty-acre site featuring woodlands, wetlands, ponds and prairie. The mission of the Stevens Point Sculpture Park is to provide a welcoming and accessible outdoor venue for environmental arts exhibitions, activities, and educational programs. In addition to the rotating sculpture exhibits, the Stevens Point Sculpture Park will host a variety of art programs and events, including an artist in residency program.
